And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
