Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
