And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 nor a loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
