And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
