And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
