And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
