Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
