And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
