Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
