And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
