And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
