Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
