And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
