And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
