And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
