And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
