And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
