Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
