And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 “And forgive my father* he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
