And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
