Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
