And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
