Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
