Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
