And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
