And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
