And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
