And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not betray me 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
