Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
