And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
