And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
