Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
