Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
