And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
