Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
