And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
