Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
