And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
