And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
