And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
