And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
