And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
