Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
