Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
