And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
