And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
