And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
