Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
