And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
