Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
